The Amur leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis), also known as the Manchurian leopard, is a wild feline predator native to the mountainous areas of the taiga as well as other temperate forests in Korea, Northeast China and the Russian Far East. It is one of the rarest felids in the world with an estimated 30 to 35 individuals remaining in the wild. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature has deemed the Amur leopard critically endangered, meaning that it is considered to be facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild. i love this breed of leopard. I've watch a DVD on them from the planet earth series. It said that rarely any young survive through the winter, since there's barely any food to even help the mother survive. They mostly just find frozen animals that have died
yep, that's probably why not many are left, barely any food. If people could somehow let a few deer inside certain areas for them they may be able to hunt
Poaching and people killing the ones that prey on their livestock probably doesn't help. As far as I know, there's a program in place to replace any livestock killed by an Amur Leopard, but that probably doesn't stop some people. >_<
Amur leopards' sometimes find the dead bodies of half way frozen deer in the wild, but they could also let a few livestock or other animals into the areas where the live for a bit and maybe help them get food to at least last through winter.
